Welcome to the Land of Thunder-dragon
This landlocked country resides in the eastern end of the Himalayas surrounded by China to the North, Republic of India to the East and West.
Indian state, Sikkim lies to the further east of Bhutan which separates it from Nepal whereas Assam of India separates it from Bangladesh to the further South. The capital city of Bhutan is Thimpu which is the largest one among all.
The daily itinerary provided under exclusively features the ways of life in Bhutan and popular Monasteries.


Detail Itinerary
Day 1- Arrival in Paro-Thimpu
Flight to Paro can be exciting on a bright, clear day. Flying high above the clouds you get to see beautiful mountain peaks below that gives ecstasy feeling to add curiosity to your journey.
Upon arrival to Paro airport, our office representative will receive you and transfer to Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan. The road trip from Paro to Thimpu goes through Paro valley towards the confluence (Chuzom River) of Paro and Thimpu.
Before leaving to Thimpu visit to Ta Dzong (originally built as a Watch Tower) which houses National Museum of the Kingdom and exhibit antique thangka paintings, textiles, weapons, armour, household objects and a rich collection of natural and historic relics. The same day is allocated to visit Ringpung Dzong, i.e., a ‘fortress of the heap of jewels’. It has a magical history and is very popular for the fine wall paintings illustrating Buddhist lore. These places are closed on Sunday, Monday and other government holidays so visiting prior reaching to Thimpu will be convenient.
After arriving in Thimpu and checking into a Hotel, the town can be explored around. You may go and see the Post Office and Memorial Chorten.
Overnight stay is at a Hotel in Thimpu.


Day 2-Visit Thimpu
After having a breakfast at Hotel, you will be taken for a guided tour to Thimpu. The visit starts from National Library that has a vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts of which some date back to hundreds of years and some are the modern academic books on Himalayan culture and religion. Nearby, Institute for Zorig Chusum can also be visited which is also known as Arts and Crafts School or Painting School.
An afternoon drive to the city will lead you to visit Textile and Folk Heritage Museum. These both museums were opened in 2001 and provide interesting information on Bhutanese material, culture and lifestyle. Our sightseeing for the day ends with the visit of Trashichho Dzong. It is a fascinating fortress/ monastery that houses Secretariat building, the throne room of His Majesty, the King and various government offices. Evening can be spent by visiting a handicraft emporium.

Day 3-Thimpu to Punakha Visit
Breakfast will be served by the Hotel and then, a drive is arranged to Punakha across Dochula Pass (3,080 m). Large Bhutanese Chorten and prayer flags mark the arrival of passes in Bhutan. The view over the high peaks of eastern Himalayas is beautiful from Dochula pass.
After checking into the Hotel in Punakha, a tour shall be made to Punakha Dzong. It is a huge structure built at the junction of two rivers. Until 1955, it was the capital of Bhutan and till now, serves as the winter residence of monk body. After the visit, short hiking can be done up through the fields of chillies, cabbages and rice along the riverbanks of Mo Chhu to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten. It is a superb monument, recently built by Queens and consecrated in the year 1999.
Evening can be enjoyed exploring the Punakha village right along the river bank.


Day 4- Punakha Visit
After breakfast, Wangdue Dzong can be visited today. It rests on a spur at the confluence of two rivers. It is an amazing sight of the dzong, completely covering the spur and hence, commands impressive view over both the north-south and east-west. Wangdue district is famous for the bamboo work, slate and stone carving.
In the afternoon, trip to Chimi Lakhang shall be made. It is a 15 minute drive from hotel along the motorable road followed by a hike of 1½ hours (two-way) through the paddy fields and villages. Chimi Lakhang is situated on a hillock in the centre of the valley and is also known as the temple of fertility.

Day 5- Punakha to Paro Visit
The day starts with breakfast, followed by drive towards Paro descending down from Dochu La. Coming towards the north end of the valley to Paro Town, Wang Chhu and Paro Chhu river valleys will be left behind.
After arriving in Paro, first visit shall be made in Simtokha Dzong, which is officially known as Sangak Zabdhon Phodrang (Palace of the Profound Meaning of Secret Mantras). It was built in 1629 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and is said to be the first dzong built in Bhutan.
Simtokha Dzong lies around 5 Km South from the centre of Thimpu. The valley below road shows plant-and soil-protection project, the National Museum Centre and the large-red-roofed Royal Institute of Management. The dzong is also the home of the Institute for Language and Culture Studies where both the monks and common students come to study.
Ta Dzong can be visited in the afternoon, which lies 5½ Km away from Tshongdu town of Paro and 500 feet from the Ringpung Dzong. Ta dzong was built in the 17th century to save the country from assaults of Tibet and India by the then Penlop of Paro, La Ngonpa Tenzin Drugda.

Day 6- Paro Visit
After breakfast, today’s visit starts from the Takstang Monastry which is also known as the Tiger’s Nest. Paro Taktsang is the popular name of Taktsang Palphug Monastery, a prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site and temple complex, which is in the Cliffside of the upper Paro valley of Bhutan. A temple complex was first built in 1692 around the Taktsang Senge Samdup (stag tshang seng ge bsam grub) cave where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated for three months in the 8th century. Today, Paro Taktsang is the best known of the thirteen taktsang or tiger lair caves in which he meditated.
Later, a short tour can be made for sightseeing Drukgyal Dzong and Kichu Lakhang. Drukgyal Dzong was a fortress and Buddhist monastery, now in ruins, located in the upper part of the Paro valley.
Kyichu Lhakang is an important Himalayan Buddhist temple situated in Lamgong Gewong of Paro district in Bhutan. It is one of the oldest temples of Bhutan, originally built in the 7th century by the Tibetan Emperor Songsten Gampo.
The evening can be spent in exploring around the area in Paro town.
Overnight stay is at a Hotel in Paro.


Day 7- Departure from Paro
Breakfast is served by the Hotel and then, transfer to Paro airport for flight destination is made according to the schedule.
