Detail Itinerary
Day 1- Arrival in Paro
Flight to Paro can be exciting on a bright, clear day. Flying high above the clouds you get to see beautiful mountain peaks below which gives ecstasy feeling to add curiosity to your journey.
Upon arrival to Paro airport, our office representative will receive you and transfer to the Hotel. Evening can be spent in the Paro market walking through the town’s main street.
Overnight stay is at a Hotel in Paro.


Day 2- Paro- Wangdue Visit
The breakfast will be served in Hotel and afterwards, a roadtrip is taken from Paro to Wangduephodrang, crossing the Dochu La pass (3,100 m). If the weather favours, stunning view of eastern Himalayan ranges along with the highest mountain in Bhutan- Mt. Gangar Punsum (7,520 m) can be seen from high above. The drive follows a descending trail to the downhill dropping towards lower and warmer valleys of Lobesa.
Later in the afternoon, Wangdue Dzong can be visited which rests on a spur at the confluence of two rivers. It is an amazing sight of the dzong, completely covering the spur and hence, commands impressive view over both the north-south and east-west. Wangdue district is famous for the bamboo work, slate and stone carving.
Overnight stay is at a Hotel in Wangduephodrang.


Day 3- Wangdue-Gantey-Wangdue Visit
After having a breakfast at Hotel, you will be taken for a guided tour to Gangtey. The Gangtey Gompa valley lies at an altitude of 2,800 metres. It is also a home for Nyingmapa Monastery of the western Bhutan. Beautiful sight of around 200-300 Black Necked Cranes migrating from the Tibetan plateau can also be enjoyed in this valley.
After the whole day exploration of this glacier valley today’s excursion ends after returning back to Wangdue.
Overnight stay is at a Hotel in Wangdue.


Day 4-Wangdue- Punakha-Thimpu Visit
Breakfast will be served by the Hotel and then, a drive is arranged to Punakha across 13 Km that takes about 45 minutes. A tour shall be made to Punakha Dzong which is a huge structure built at the junction of two rivers. Until 1955, it was the capital of Bhutan and till now, serves as the winter residence of monk body.
After the visit, take lunch and drive to Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan. It is a very charming city sandwiched in the heart of Himalayas. It is very famous for the historical and religious monuments, arts, crafts, traditions and culture.
The first visit in Thimpu can be made to the National Memorial Chorten. It is a monument for world peace and prosperity that reflects Buddhist philosophy. The paintings and statues inside the monument are remarkable.
Our sightseeing for the day ends with the visit of Trashichho Dzong. It is a fascinating fortress/ monastery that houses Secretariat building, the throne room of His Majesty, the King and various government offices. Evening can be spent by visiting a handicraft emporium.

Day 5- Thimpu- Paro Visit
After a leisurely breakfast, the Bhutan tour continues with the sightseeing in and around Thimpu. The visit starts from National Library that has a vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts of which some date back to hundreds of years and some are the modern academic books on Himalayan culture and religion. Nearby, Institute for Zorig Chusum can also be visited which is also known as Arts and Crafts School or Painting School.
Then after, drive to the city will lead you to visit Textile and Folk Heritage Museum. These both museums were opened in 2001and provide interesting information on Bhutanese material, culture and lifestyle.
Finishing off in Thimpu, short drive will be taken towards Paro for visiting the tourist destinations in Paro valley.
The first visit in Paro shall be made to Simtokha Dzong, which is officially known as Sangak Zabdhon Phodrang (Palace of the Profound Meaning of Secret Mantras). It was built in 1629 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and is said to be the first dzong built in Bhutan.
Simtokha Dzong lies around 5 Km South from the centre of Thimpu. The valley below road shows plant-and soil-protection project, the National Museum Centre and the large-red-roofed Royal Institute of Management. The dzong is also the home of the Institute for Language and Culture Studies where both the monks and common students come to study.
Ta Dzong can be visited in the afternoon, which lies 5½ Km away from Tshongdu town of Paro and 500 feet from the Ringpung Dzong. Ta dzong was built in the 17th century to save the country from assaults of Tibet and India by the then Penlop of Paro, La Ngonpa Tenzin Drugda.

Day 6- Paro Visit
After breakfast, today’s visit starts from the Takstang Monastry which is also known as the Tiger’s Nest. Paro Taktsang is the popular name of Taktsang Palphug Monastery, a prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site and temple complex, which is in the Cliffside of the upper Paro valley of Bhutan. A temple complex was first built in 1692 around the Taktsang Senge Samdup (stag tshang seng ge bsam grub) cave where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated for three months in the 8th century. Today, Paro Taktsang is the best known of the thirteen taktsang or tiger lair caves in which he meditated.
Later, a short tour can be made for sightseeing Drukgyal Dzong and Kyichu Lakhang. Drukgyal Dzong was a fortress and Buddhist monastery, now in ruins, located in the upper part of the Paro valley.
Kyichu Lhakang is an important Himalayan Buddhist temple situated in Lamgong Gewong of Paro district in Bhutan. It is one of the oldest temples of Bhutan, originally built in the 7th century by the Tibetan Emperor Songsten Gampo.
The evening can be spent in exploring around the area in Paro town.
Overnight stay is at a Hotel in Paro.


Day 7- Departure from Paro
Breakfast is served by the Hotel and then, transfer to Paro airport for flight destination is made according to the schedule.
