Trekking to the upper region of Dolpa district presents a full, rustic journey to the rough mountains, ancient monasteries and Gompas allowing one to draw in the pure Buddhist culture and villages of Westen Nepal.  The agro-pastoral population known as Dolpo in Tibetan and Dhol-wa in its local dialect reside in the remotest region and are known as adherence to the Bon, whose modern form is also officially accepted as the fifth school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Detail Itinerary:
Day 1- Arrival to Kathmandu
The starting point of this adventure begins from your arrival in Kathmandu. Once your Nepal Visa gets issued, collect your luggage, clear the customs and move toward exit terminal. As soon as you come out of the exit terminal please check our office representative with your name placard. S/he will assist you to the hotel.

Day 2- Fly: Kathmandu - Nepalgunj
After breakfast transfer to airport for your flight to Nepalgunj
Arrive at Nepalgunj and transfer to the hotel.

Day 3- Fly: Nepalgunj - Juphal; Trek from Juphal to Dunai (2,150m 3-4 hrs)
We fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj first and then from there we take another flight to Juphal. Twin Otter is the only mode of transport offering air service in this route.
After landing in Juphal we walk along the terraced fields to Bheri River for about 3 hours and rest for the day at Dunai village.

Day 4- Trek from Dunai to Ankhe (2,660 m; 6 hrs)
We will start trekking from Dunai towards the convergence of Bheri and Suli Gadh Rivers. Following the pathways of Suli Gadh we climb upwards to the villages crossing farms of millets, pumpkins, sweet corns and chillies. We make our way to Ankhe which is also an entrance to the Phoksundo National Park.

Day 5- Trek from Ankhe to Renje (3,104 m; 7 hrs)
On our 4th day, we continue to follow the Suli Gadh River and walk uphill to a narrow path facing the cliff. Descending to the river again, we catch upward trail that gives a top view of the surrounding landscapes and make our stop point for the day.

Day 6- Trek from Renje to Phoksundo Lake (3,600 m; 6-7 hrs)
The first couple of hours follow an easy walk from Renje. After reaching Sumdo, we trek along inclined like path high above the river. Climbing up to the ridge of about 3,875 m we see the astounding views of 300 m waterfall, which is the highest of all in Nepal. This is also the first view of Phoksundo Lake. Then, we descent down through thrash forest and see the village settlement in Rngmo. Upon further walking we arrive to the shores of Phoksundo Lake which will be our stoppage.

Day 7- Trek from shores of Phoksundo Lake to the Phoksundo Khola (3,507 m; 6 hrs)
This precarious trail adjoins the edge of the Phoksundo Lake. It is suspended on a gangplank of woods supported by hooks, driven into crevices in the rocks. The trek heads steeply upwards to the height of 4,040 m and then climbs down to the valley bottom making entrance to the plains of Phoksundo Khola. We will rest for the day within the confines of forests by setting our camp.

Day 8- Trek from Phoksundo Khola to Phoksundo Bhanjyang (4,402 m; 7 hrs)
We should be prepared to walk through the streams and glacier valley today. One must put on a pair of convenient footwear. Heading towards north, passing through the vertical cliffs and contorted rock formations we will reach to the convergence of Phoksundo Khola and another unnamed mountain stream. Further to northeast of the valley we will have to crawl over the rocks and boulders and then to ford a stream rushing down to the steep valley. A long walk up to the gorge and then uphill to the top of the valley brings us to the ‘Snowfield Camp’ named by Peter Matthiessen where we settle for the day.

Day 9- Trek from Phoksundo Bhanjyang to Shey Gompa (4,126 m; 7 hrs)
Today we will be crossing the Kang La pass with the altitude of 5,151 m. After trekking for about 2½ or 3 hours we reach to the top of Kang La from where glorious views of the surrounding landscapes can be observed. Upon descending steeply to the valley floor in about 45 minutes, we take a long snaking trail along the river bank and go across. A picturesque wooden bridge welcomes us to Shey Gompa.

Day 10- Rest and Explore
The day is allocated for a rest in Shey Gompa which is also named as ‘Crystal Mountain’. The monastery is an absolute retreat and is also a meditation centre to many Tibetan Lamas. Shey is very famous for the ancient Buddhist culture and marks its origin since 11th century. To the west of Gompa lies Crystal Mountain whose contorted cliffs are fastened with quartz and surrounded with marine fossils.

Day 11- Trek from Shey Gompa to Namduna Gaun (4,400 m; 7 hrs)
We bid farewell to the Shey Gompa and walk through a lovely track amid juniper ascending to grey, stony gorge. After a great deal of walking through meander path we arrive to a flat spot from where amazing scene of Mustang landscape and snowy peaks of Tibetan mountains can be relished. We also make a crossing through Saldang La pass (4,785 m) and approach downward to the village Namduna Gaun. Here, we get to see the beautiful Namgung monastery, stone houses and farm fields far reaching up to the Nam Khong valley.

Day 12- Trek from Namduna Gaun to Saldang (3,903 m; 4 hrs)
Today we depart from Namduna Gaun and climb toward the dusty barren mountains. From the top we go downhill and again ascend to the fertile land of Saldang village situated at the plateau haigh above Nang Khong nala and the biggest village of inner Dolpo area. The village is also an important gateway for it serves as a trade route to Tibet.

Day 13-Trek from Saldang to Sibu (3, 942 m; 6 hrs)
On the way from Saldang to Sibu we come down to the river bed, passing through several pieces of terraced farms, Stupas, Chortens, heaps of Mani stones and a Chaiba monastery. We will also passy by Namdo village that stretches about 5 Kms on the high slopes to the left of Nam Khong Khola. There is Namdo monastery located near the river bed. Nearby the river bank, we rest for the day at the village settlement of Sibu.

Day 14- Trek from Sibu to the Jeng La Base (4,369 m; 5 hrs)
We will follow the trail of river bank for about 2 hours and cross another stream. Thereafter, we trek through a rising uphill to come to the side valley. The foot of Jeng La pass is bestrewn with rocks, yaks and other animal droppings.

Day 15- Cross Jeng La Pass (4,845 m) and Trek to Tokyu Gaun (4,240 m; 7 hrs)
It takes about 2 hours of steep climb to reach to the top of Jeng La. We can spot the shimmering peaks of Mount Dhaulagiri in morning rays. Following a rough trail downward to Tarap valley we walk past the green pathway further down up to Tarap Chu. There are many small villages with several monasteries and Chortens. We will make our stop point at Tokyu Gaun where a lovely Tokyu Monastry resides.

Day 16- Trek from Tokyu Gaun to Dho Tarap (4,090 m; 4½ hrs)
Leaving Tokyu Gaun behind we walk further to Dho Tarap. On the way we may also visit the Chaiba Gompa. The trail is well shared by village passer-by and calm. We will see people working in farms to make a living, several Gompas and Chortens can be observed. The French School, Bon Gompa, Tibetan cultures, the ethnic dresses and Magar communities are some of the features of Dho Tarap.

Day 17- Trek from Dho Tarap to Serkam (3,630 m; 6½ hrs)
This day, we will be going down from Dho Tarap, accompanying the flowing Tarap River through narrow gorge. On our way we may see the blue sheep, marmots, yak, sheep and goats. People from Dolpo often take their flocks of sheeps and goats to lower pastures when winter approaches. After leaving Tarap River we walk through the easy trails where road construction is starting to take place and suspension bridges until we finally arrive at Serkam.

Day 18- Trek from Serkam to Khani Gaun (2,550 m; 7 hrs)
We continue our walk to the gorges of Tarap River along the narrow trails and then climb up to the stone stairs. After 7 hours long trek we arrive at the pleasant meadow of Khani Gaun.

Day 19- Trek from Khani Gaun to Tarakot (2,281 m; 4 hrs)
Tarakot is an old fortress at the broad fertile valley of Barbung Chu. We cross the suspension bridge from Khani Gaun and climb high before reaching down to the water again. One should be careful while stepping on wet stones through this way.

Day 20- Trek from Tarakot to Dunai (2,052 m; 5 hrs)
We will be trekking downward to the nifty path of about 12 ft. above the Bheri River. Our circuit will get back us to Dunai once we reach the village.

Day 21- Trek from Dunai to Juphal (2,404 m; 3 hrs)
We walk back to Juphal today. The last day of our adventurous walk ends with the steep trails leading us to Juphal.

Day 22- Fly to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj
The journey shall come to an end by first, flying to Nepalgunj from Juphal and then from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu. It takes approximately 35 minutes to reach to Kathmandu.

Day 23- Free for Personal Activities
The day could be spend freely where you can sightsee the richness of cultural heritages and tourist destinations in Kathmandu Valley such as Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Basantapur, Thamel, etc.

Day 24- Departure to Home
Enjoy your journey to the fullest until final departure. We will transfer you to airport 3 hrs earlier your scheduled flight to the next destination.
